Abstract: The article deals with the questions of the development status of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation. In particular, the analysis is given of the initial approaches to the understanding of its authorities and organization of activities, and any subsequent changes. Despite the fact that the Constitution of the Russian Federation remains unchanged, the status of the Constitutional Court is transformed through its own practice and legislative modernization of its legal foundation.
