Abstract
the article analyses constitutional regulations concerning issues of higher education in 50 states and the District of Columbia. It provides general features on American constitutional acts; it also clearly defines the main directions and forms of those regulations when matters of higher education are regarded. Specific constitutional regulations, stipulating functions of higher education institutions, the legal status of higher education institutions, guarantees of equal access to higher education, are considered in the article. The article also refers to relations between religious organizations and higher education institutions. The legal states of administrative bodies is regarded.
