Abstract
The article raises the actual problems of defense offood product consumers' rights, which have existed in Russia for more than 100 years. Studying of the archive documents and analyzing of the normative acts of Russian empire 1881-1913 gave the author the opportunity to reveal the specificity of the native mechanism of legal regulation, which is called up to resist the widely spread falsification offood products (butter, tea, sugar) and the unfair competition on the market of food products. The author has shown that this process was being formed according to fiscal interests of the state.
