Abstract
The article deals with two major systems of government – presidentialism and parliamentarianism – and their characteristic features. Within this context different forms of government, their pluses and minuses are being analyzed. It is stressed that each form of government functions within a particular system of government, and only semi-presidential republic can operate within both presidentialism and parliamentarianism depending on coincidence (or lack of coincidence) of party membership of the president and parliamentary majority
