- Abstract
- The American integration leads to the development of private international law. The beginning of this process was initiated in the late 18th century. The unification of the Inter-American Private International Law has some good examples, such as the Bustamante Code and the Inter-American Convention on the law applicable to international contracts. The main effort for the progressive development of this branch of law is carried out within the Organization of American States and the Inter-American Specialized Conference on Private International Law. The main issues discussed at the last of them are consumer protection and enforcement of obligations. This article provides an overview of the development of Inter-American Private International Law, modern tendencies of its development. The Inter-American experience in the harmonization of Private International Law is an interesting example of the interaction of modern legal systems. The results of the interaction of these states differ from European Private International Law. However, this example represents a great interest to the civil law investigators.
