- Abstract
- The article describes Jewish law (Halacha) as a functioning system of norms from the viewpoint of cross-culstural typology of legal systems. The article compares the status of Roman law and Halacha in the modern world. A conditional analogy between Halachic image of law and legal positivism is drawn. Some essential differences between Halacha and Sharia are shown. The independence of Halachic normative system from the state is analyzed.
