Abstract
Supranational authorities of the European Union are actively implementing the institutions which are based on the principle of mutual recognition to the EU legal system. Inefficiency of classical methods of states cooperation in the field of criminal justice, which are no longer able to meet the challenges of modern crime, is indicated as the main reason of reforms being carried out. However, the nature of the changes leads to the conclusion that the main purpose of legal cooperation structures replacement is reduced to the expansion of the European integration, which results in restrictions ofEU member states sovereignty. In this article the author analyzes legal characteristics of a new institution - the European investigation order. A profound analysis confirms the conclusion that the principle of mutual recognition in general and the European investigation order in particular are used as a tool contributing to the deepening of integration cooperation.
