- Abstract
- This article deals with the problem of coexistence of legal and ethnic-religious norms in modern multicultural society. It raises the questions of observing the religious norms in Sikh, Jewish, Muslim communities within a secular legal space (carrying religious clothes and ritual weapons in public spaces and public service, ritual circumcising). It analyzes the legislation and legal practice of common law countries (USA, Canada, United Kingdom) and the Romano-Germanic legal family (France, Belgium, Germany), as well as the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights.
