- Abstract
The author analyses an ambitious B. Yack's program, which revises the concepts of “nation” and “nationalism”. The advantages and contradictions of Yack's interpretation of modern and pre-modern content of concepts of the “nation” are shown. Interpreting the nature of “nation” and the specifics of nationality, Yack refers to the notion of friendship, which in recent years has experienced a renaissance within the framework of political philosophy. In particular, according to Yack's, the concept of “civil nation” is not an alternative to “nationalism” and its threats.
