- Abstract
- The article considers the «up-down» juxtaposition applied to the human body and reflected not only in the Slavic languages lexica and phraseology, but also in the symbolic language of the folk culture. Analysis is based on the materials of Slavic rituals and beliefs, and includes interprétations of charms, riddles, verbal clichés and phraseological combinations.
