Abstract
The article discusses family and marriage regulations among the Siberian Tatar in the 18th - early 20th centuries. The author points to the fact that Siberian Tatars, despite the considerable influence of Sharia norms, made use of civil laws of the Russian Empire as well. Drawing on an array of archival and other sources, she considers and analyzes a variety of institutions and customs pertaining to family and marriage matters.
