Abstract
The article discusses characters of Spanish children mythology, which used to be employed by adults and parents for pedagogical and educational purposes. Today this practice is on the brink of extinction in Spain, yet many of the fictional characters are still alive in the popular imagination. Drawing on a range of both written sources and interviews, the authors explore the history of these characters, their emergence and shaping, and analyze their part in contemporary everyday life.
