Abstract
Some conceptual and ideological principles underlying contemporary debate on Human embryonic stem cell research ethics are considered. Ambiguity of key notions "dignity" and "sanctity of life" is marked as well as the urgent necessity of some new interpretation of the latter notion free of the Western legacy of substantialism, anthropocentrism and individualism. Heuristic value of some Confucian ideas and notions is explained as well as the East Asian Perspective of the sense of "sanctity of life" idea.
