Abstract
The present paper deals with modelling the concept "heart" in the Bible texts. Carrying out the analysis of the occurrences of the corresponding word in the Russian Synodal Translation the author describes the structure of the concept formed by a set of relevant features (heart as the principle of life; the centre of emotions, will and understanding; the man's character). Much attention is paid to the heart as the seat of religious feelings. The analysis of the occurrences in the Bible proves the fact that the word "heart" functions in the Bible as a cultural and a linguistic symbol.
