- Abstract
- The known patterns of globalization in history are described. One can present globalization as a natural expansion of strong societies belonging to one of the two types possible: ether vertically integrated ("imperial") or horizontally integrated ("network") type. Some historical patterns of network-type self-organization of societies are identified, those are Hellenic poleis, Jewish diaspora and Protestant communities. The symbiosis of the latter two formatted the basis of the pattern of European civilization.
