Abstract
Using materials from the Samara branch of the Russian State Archive of Scientifi c and Technical Documents, this article describes the history of the Moscow subway design, including expert evaluations of blueprints for tunnels and metro stations, the organization and fi nancing of construction, the training of specialists for subway construction, the organization of traffi c, and technical service for subway cars. The essay includes illustrative materials and is based on many previously unused documents.
