Abstract

The article discusses the origin and various approaches to understanding Church membership and criteria for its measurement. The subordination of the concepts of "ecclesiasticism" - "religiosity", "ecclesiastical" and "practicing believers"is established. The article analyzes the problems and prospects of applying the category of "ecclesiasticism" to assess the degree of religiosity in modern Russian society.
