Abstract
The global economic crisis is shaping a new global and Russian socio-political reality. The decline in production, the deterioration in the quality of life of the population, and the mixed reactions to the anti-crisis policy of the authorities undoubtedly influenced the results of the 2011-2012 parliamentary and presidential elections, showing the limits of possible policy in the new post-election Russian reality. Economic development requires a different, socially responsible policy. Sociological research shows: Russian society, having experienced the impact of the crisis, is full of expectations of changes that the “new – old” leaders of the country are obliged to implement. Will their expectations and hopes be met? What is the new world like? Will the Russians have enough patience in the new reality?
