- Abstract
- Based on data from targeted sample surveys (2008-2010 and 2013) conducted by the migration research Center, an attempt is made to construct a “portrait” of female migrant workers from the CIS countries to Russia who are engaged in domestic work. The analysis showed that, on the one hand, theyare in a better position in relation to other categories of migrants – foreign citizens: as a rule, they have places to live and higher wages. On the other hand, they are living in more difficult conditions, which are characterized by an almost universal informal nature of employment and domestic labor practices. Considering this category of the population, we come to the intersection of research issues: labor migration, women's migration, single migration, employment in the field of emotional and contact work for home services, employment with undocumented labor relations.
