- Abstract
- The article analyzes the manifestations of gerontological ageism in the professional activities of medical and social workers. The author substantiates its institutional, personal, socio-cultural and competence components. People's awareness of the moral unacceptability of ageist attitudes, their open presentation, and the associated actions of a number of psychological defense mechanisms (for example, displacement, transfer) that prevent people from adequately reflecting negative attitudes towards older people and the reasons for this situation, determine the sensitivity of the problem and the complexity of obtaining reliable information about it.
