Abstract

Turgenev uses obvious juxtapositions between the protagonists of Pushkin’s Eugene Onegin and Fathers and Sons, to highlight the important differences, e. g. between Tatiana, who is guided by the highest moral code, and Anna Odintsova, who lives in a moral vacuum. As for the two Eugenes, Turgenev contrasts Onegin’s lack of motivation with Bazarov’s all-encompassing worldview, to show that a person’s beliefs are of crucial importance.
