Abstract

The article discusses the formation and development of the study of public opinion in the United States, including in political life, in the process of presidential election campaigns. The analysis of the main directions of this activity – research institutes, research centers, press agencies and the electoral headquarters of the candidates and political parties. Analyzes the role of opinion polls in campaigns of recent decades, in particular in the presidential election of 2016.
