Abstract

The article deals with key trends in the emerging global order of the early 21st century and outlook for the United States in this order, given the U.S. and Western share in world economy and politics declined. The authors analyze debate unfolding in the U.S. expert community concerning basic dominants of a new world order and prospect for the United States adjusting to new global reality, especially in view of rising alternative centers of influence in the non-Western world. The article dwells also on some theoretical aspects of the issue, including the concepts of multi-polarity and polycentrism, role of the international law in a new global arrangement.
