Abstract
At the present stage of Russia’s development education in its not-explosive, organic connection with the science becomes more powerful driving force of economic growth, improvement of efficiency and competitiveness of the national economy, making it one of the most important factors national security and welfare of a country, the welfare of every citizen. The article is the author’s classification of the historical stages of development of higher education in Russia, but also indicated the problems of reforms and management of the higher school.
