Abstract
The article is devoted to the unique characteristics of state and law of Dagestan, highlighted by the author after investigation and analysis of all state legal system of a given entity in a chronological sequence and specific historical features. The analysis begins -with the first state formations on the territory of Dagestan, emerged in the late first Millennium BC is of Caucasian Albania. Further attention was drawn to itself a unique coexistence for centuries conglomerate state formations, peacefully interacting with each other, but at the same time, had expressed autonomy. The author highlights Derbent, which is over twice the "eternal city of Rome ". In Dagestan took place as fiefdoms and "free society", which differed on allform elements of the state. From a religious point of view, the author of the article pays attention to this moment, as Dagestanis were drawn at different time intervals in Christianity, Judaism and finally Islam. The coexistence of ADAT and Sharia is a distinctive feature of the legal practice of Dagestan, which attach Dagestan Russia converged with the Russian positive law.
