Abstract
The article deals with important issues related to the functioning of the European Arrest Warrant which has replaced the extradition procedure between the EU Member States by a new legal instrument. The need for closer and more effective cooperation of the Member States has triggered the abolition of a number of principles and rules that had been characteristic for extradition, in particular, the principle of exclusion of political crimes, the principle of non-extradition of the citizens, etc. The new system has significantly modified the rule of double criminality which, inter alia, has been totally revoked in relation to 32 most serious offences.
