- Abstract
The relationship of church and state is a topic of discussion that is actual in Russia today. For this reason, research of ancient Russian and Byzantine history of this issue is interesting. Consideration of the orthodox doctrine of state power is necessary for this research. Understanding of the traditional orthodox doctrine of relations between the state and the church can help to avoid false axioms in this debate, which is important to determine the future development of the state and society.
