Abstract

the article is prepared as the author’s reflection on the newly presented monograph “The Constitutional Court: the doctrine and practice” by Prof. V.D. Zor’kin, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation. Sharing the views expressed by the influential colleague, author highlights the basic issues of the legal development in today’s Russia and that the Constitutional Court is doing to support the legal transformations. Author notes the importance of improvement of the moral basics of law in Russia, as well as the significance of overcoming of legal nihilism, cultivation of the constitutionally compliant legal consciousness in the society, ensuring of the state sovereignty of Russia and the stability of the Russian Constitution presupposing an evolutional upgrade of the basic legal relations in accordance with the constitutional provisions.
