- Abstract
- The article attempts to contemporary scientific position to assess objectively the contribution of the outstanding thinker to the development of domestic natural and legal thought in the writing of the theory of social liberalism, that replaced classical liberal individualism in the XX. century, in the study of the phenomenon of social ideal. The focus of the article is made to justify the relevance of the scientific heritage of P.I. Novgorodtsev. Many of his ideas – intellectual, spiritual and moral search are extremely relevant and in demand nowadays. This allows us to view him as our contemporary. His works are essential to us, as a living testimony of the importance of brilliant and self-sufficient Russian philosophical and legal thought. They do not grow older. Moreover, time opens the new features that are important today. They turn us back to the so-called “eternal” social issues and can serve as a true benchmark in the search for ways to solve them in relation to the realities of modern Russian society
