- Abstract
- The author considers - as a topic in the national historiography, and as a real background of a story - how the famous French writer and traveler Xavier Marmier, during his trip to the North of Germany, while collecting ethnographic data, confronted with a legend, spread «among the people of Mecklenburg», telling about three brothers - Rurik, Sivaram and Truvare, who went, in search of a better life, to rule on Russia. There are some reasons to treat it as a parallel with the story Primary Chronicle.
