Abstract

The article is devoted to the differentiation in the linguistic continuum of the North Russian dialect of traces of areal impact and genetically determined phonetic features. Particular attention is paid to the role of pronunciation features manifested at the pre-phonemic level. In connection with the identification of a set of phonetic features common to the Northern European area, the issue of the inclusion of the Northern Russian dialect in the framework of the Northern linguistic union is discussed.
