Персонаж в поисках авторов: три ненаписанных сочинения о консульстве Цицерона

Аннотация

В статье рассматриваются неудачные попытки Цицерона стать героем литературных произведений: двух поэм и исторического труда. Примечательно, что всякий раз это было обращение к эллинам. Больше всего сведений о подзащитном великого оратора – поэте Архии. От него ожидалась эпическая поэма на греческом языке о событиях 63 г. до н.э., которая должна была представлять собой панегирик и находиться в русле официальной версии заговора Катилины. Почти ничего не известно о сочинении (предположительно поэме) некоего Фиилла – человека невысокого социального статуса, делившего с Цицероном антикварные изыскания. В высшей степени информативно письмо, где вскользь упоминается об отказе Посидония Родосского. В качестве аналогии обращения к автору «Истории» рассматривается знаменитое письмо Цицерона к Лукцею. Вежливый отказ Посидония связан с нежеланием участвовать в пропагандистской кампании консула 63 г. и с отсутствием свободы творчества. Все три труда должны были быть написаны по-гречески и предназначены для широкого распространения. Просьбы М. Туллия опережали издание им автобиографических сочинений. По мнению автора статьи, и хронология, и выбор языка опровергают точку зрения, что самовосхваление Цицерона имело прежде всего практическую цель: пресечь нападки политических противников. Отец отечества главным образом стремился увековечить свою славу.
