Abstract
The article contains a brief history of the development of Japanese railways, technology progress and appearance of high- speed railways. Japan undoubtedly proved to be the best by opening the world first high-speed railway (shinkansen). The article deals with problems of recovery and resuming railway operations after the Great East Japan Earthquake in the quake- hit area.
