- Abstract
- Metamorphoses as physical and social phenomena have always existed. However, their nature changes significantly under the influence of the acceleration and complexity of social and cultural dynamics, as a result of which there appear a pluralization and complication of their types. The article is devoted to the analysis of the interpretation of this phenomenon in philosophy and sociology at different stages of the development of the sciences. The double actuality of metamorphoses is shown – they can have both objective grounds and be the act of a social construct. As the social development becomes more complex, metamorphoses acquire the character of non-linear transformations, functional ambivalences, contributing to both disintegration and integration of the society, exerting destructive and humane influences. The new generation of metamorphoses is due to the entry of mankind into “turbulent times” which gave rise to more complex factors of their production in the globolocal spaces. Metamorphoses in the form of “collateral damage” and metamorphoses of post-Soviet Russia are specially considered. There are particularly analyzed metamorphoses as “positive side effects of the bad” the nature of which is revealed in the concept of U. Beck “the metamorphosis of the world”, which goes beyond his theory of “world risk society”.
