Abstract

Significance and role of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in preserving this country as a sovereign state and continuing the stable functioning of the North Korean model of socio—political system remain poorly researched in comparison with such topics as the country's nuclear and missile programs. The article analyzes the events held in the DPRK on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of founding the WPK celebrated on October 10, 2020 from the angle of the evolution of its political course, some forms and methods of the party's work in the run-up to its the VIII Congress, scheduled for January, 2021.
